As a lifelong resident of Hyde and Beaufort Counties, I was born and raised in a hardworking farming family right here in Hyde County. From my earliest days, I’ve witnessed the spirit of our local communities, especially those tied to the waters of the Pamlico Sound. Our fishing and shrimping families, the backbone of our coastal heritage, battling everything from unpredictable weather and rising operational costs to stringent regulations and competition from imported seafood. For generations, they’ve endured these trials with grit and determination, all while harvesting the freshest shrimp, crabs, and fish that grace tables across America.
I fully support their unwavering efforts to sustain this vital industry, not just for the economic lifeline it provides to our region—employing thousands and boosting local businesses—but for the way it preserves our way of life. These folks rise before dawn, navigate treacherous waters, and return with bounties that feed families nationwide, all while stewarding our estuaries for future generations. As your representative for District 79 in the North Carolina House of Representatives, I’ll stand with them: advocating for fair policies and promoting North Carolina seafood on a national stage. Together, we’ll ensure this proud tradition thrives, allowing our shrimpers and fishermen to provide for their families for decades to come.
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
After much prayer, deliberation, and encouragement from friends across eastern North Carolina, I have decided to file to be your Representative in the North Carolina House of Representatives. I am asking for your support in next year’s District 79 Republican primary. I believe the people of our district deserve better results in Raleigh.
I will fight to promote and protect our farms, fishing, and small business owners, enhance our schools, safeguard our right to bear arms, and back all our first responders. I’ll stand up for President Donald Trump and his America First agenda. We need someone who will be more successful passing legislation to defend what matters most to us: faith, family, and freedom. I am running to produce better legislative results for all of eastern North Carolina.
Our district is made up of tight-knit communities where neighbors still show up for each other. In our coastal towns, we know what it means to stand together through storms. District 79 has been overlooked, underestimated, and underrepresented for far too long. With your help, we can change that.
We can strengthen what makes our district special and bring new energy and new opportunities. I want to hear your concerns, earn your trust, and build the movement we need to win. I hope you’ll join me and display a yard sign, donate, or simply share our message with your friends and family.
This campaign is about us, the hardworking people of eastern North Carolina who love our area and love our country. I want to produce results that will improve opportunities for our grandchildren to live and work here in District 79. Thank you for your friendship, your prayers, and your support.
With gratitude,
Darren Armstrong
